Paigey Cakey Releases Debut Mixtape "The First Paige" [Plus Free Download Link]

Up and coming rapper Paigey Cakey has today released her hotly anticipated debut mixtape "The First Paige". The Mixtape is available to download for free HERE.

Paigey Cakey (real name Paige Meade)  has been building her reputation throughout 2012 and she has worked very closely with Lady Leshurr and the pair appear to be practically joined at the hip these days appearing together on stage, on videos, during radio interviews and also on each other's tracks. Paigey's face is also recognizable as she is also a talented actress who has appeared on the BBC TV series Waterloo Road and the movie Attack The Block. Paigey got her stage name during her school days where her classmates used to sing her name to the tune of 2004 number one single "Babycakes" by 3 Of A Kind.

Here are some videos featuring Paigey Cakey:

Cherri Voncelle Releases New EP "Good Mourning Madame Rouge" [FREE DOWNLOAD LINK]

UK souls singer Cherri Voncelle has just released her sophomore EP entitled "Good Mourning Madame Rouge". For her new EP Cherri has undergone a slight re-branding as she used to go by the stage name "Cherri V". This is the follow up to her 2011 EP "Shades of Red". To date Cherri's best known track is probably her 2010 collaboration with Wiley called "Skool Daze".

This EP features a collection of 6 tracks ranging deep soulful tracks like "One Day" to up-tempo numbers like "Same Story". The production is stripped back yet slick and Cherri's delicate yet powerful and distinctive voice sounds beautiful throughout. There is not a great deal of this type of soul music around these days so this EP is a welcome treat and Cherri could really find a niche for herself. Some of the tracks on here reminded me a bit of the type of songs Alicia Keys might do. The lyrics are meaningful and centre around themes of heartbreak, love and unhealthy relationships.

The new EP differs to "Shades of Red" which had a harder edged sound,. For example "Favorite Girl" featured heavily dubstep influenced production. Whereas "Shades of Red" showed promise, the new EP is more polished. Although both EPs show off Cherri's versatility. Judging by the quality of this EP surely it is only a matter of time before Cherri gets a Emeli Sande style mainstream breakthrough.

For me I think the standout track is the sultry and emotional mid-tempo track "999". See the video for "999" below:

The EP can be downloaded for free HERE.

Lady Leshurr Performs First Headline Show

Lady Leshurr performed her debut headline show at the Roundhouse in Camden last night. She performed an hour long set with a full live band. She was joined by an array of star guest performances including Cherri V and her best mate Paigey Cakey. Leshurr rocked the crowd in the intimate surroundings of the Roundhouse Studio. The fans who attended were treated to a special performance and Leshurr demonstrated why there is such a buzz around her. The show was attended by a number of industry figures, I spotted DJ's Semtex and Ras Kwame from BBC 1xtra, DJ/Producer Mike Delinquent, singer KCat and Mz Bratt. I also think I saw "Home Run" singer and former X Factor contestant Misha B at the gig but I didn't get a good enough look to know if it was her for sure!

Pro Dot was the support act and his brand of indie infused hip-hop went down well with the crowd. His catchy song "Just One Night" certainly has the potential to be a crossover hit. A shout out has to go out to Lady Leshurr's backing band who were wicked, especially the lead guitarist!

Here is a clip of Lady Leshurr & Paigey Cakey performing "Dam City" from last night:

Here is a clip of her performing Sister Nancy's 1982 song "Bam Bam":

Dappy's Controversial "Tarzan 2" Freestyle

N-Dubz rapper Dappy has released a video of his new freestyle titled "Tarzan 2" which follows the original Tarzan freestyle from last August. In his new freestyle Dappy says some very controversial and unpleasant things about a whole host of leading music industry figures including Simon Cowell, Alexandra Burke, Tinie Tempah and female DJ's Max and Sarah-Jane Crawfrord of Choice FM and BBC Radio 1xtra respectively.

Dappy displays his undoubted talent in this freestyle and the production from S-X (of Woo Riddim fame) is absolutely banging. However the video is bound to cause a huge stink and ruffle a fair few feathers. Choice FM's Max has already taken to Twitter to slam the misogynistic lyrics aimed at her in the freestyle. The video also features a blow up doll with a picture of her face taped to it getting rogered. According to Max the pair are friends which makes Dappy's attack on her even more dissapointing. She also hit out at Dappy's level of disrespect towards women, particularly as he is a father. Sarah-Jane retweeted Max's comments.

Choice FM DJ Max

Max's response in full is as follows:

"I’m very disappointed in Dappy for the way he spoke about me and other women in his latest freestyle.
We have been friends for a long time, that have always respected each other personally and professionally.

To speak about a friend or any woman that has done you no wrong in that way is inexcusable.
He is also a dad and being so derogatory towards women is unacceptable.

Disrespecting friends only makes you look like a bully, especially just so you benefit financially, because let’s be honest it doesn’t bring you any creative accolades.

I want all the girls that follow me and support what I do to know no man has any right to talk about women this way unprovoked and unjustified. He should know better, we are supposed to be friends."

Sarah-Jane Crawford

Even his own cousin and X Factor Judge Tulisa has hit out at the video. Tulisa tweeted "i wish Dappy never mentioned cancer in #Tarzan2 thats a sensitive subject...". Despite all the fuss this freestyle is likely to cause I am sure Dappy has "No Regrets"!!!!!!

Bashy & Wretch 32 Release New Video "Male Pride" [PLUS Free MP3 Download Link]

Bashy has released the video for the second track to come off his forthcoming "Great Escape EP". On this track he teams up with Wretch 32. The video's plot line follows on with the love triangle theme which was featured in the "Dirty Talk" video last month. In "Dirty Talk" we saw Bashy and a girl sleeping off a session in bed when her phone rings and Wretch 32's name comes up on the display. The girl picks up the phone without answering, looks at who the call is from and then looks over to the sleeping Bashy with eyes full of guilt and remorse, before placing the phone back on the bedside table and going back to bed.

The video for "Male Pride" continues the story and shows us what happens next. See the video below:

This track deals with issues such as love, suspicion, lust, sex & betrayal in the context of modern relationships. The lyrics on this track deal with the jealous feelings a guy can have when thinking about his girlfriend's exes and previous sexual encounters. The track has a 70's soul vibe and was produced by DaVinche. This is one of the strongest tracks Bashy has ever made.

More great news, the track is available as as free mp3 download. Click HERE to download the track for free.

Ex Eastenders Star Preeya Kalidas New Single "Love Between Us" Video

Ex Eastenders star Preeya Kalidas has released the video for her new solo single "Love Between Us". Preeya, who played Amira Masood in Eastenders, left the soap earlier this year to concentrate on her music career. "Love Between Us" samples a 1989 Bollywood song called "My Name Is Lakhan" which Preeya enjoyed whilst growing up. The track is co-written and produced by DaVinChe.

This is what Preeya said about her new track "Ram Lakhan was a classic Bollywood film I enjoyed watching when I was growing up. I've always wanted to work with music from this iconic film and was given the chance to with this song. I think the way that Davinche has produced it adds a real edge to the song and the early response on 'Love Between Us' has been brilliant".

"Love Between Us" follows up her 2010 collaboration with Skepta, "Cross My Heart".

Bashy Releases "Dirty Talk" Video & Free MP3

Bashy has released a video for his latest track "Dirty Talk" taken from his forthcoming Great Escape EP. This is a great track with slick production and a catchy vocal hook. Bashy certainly doesn't believe in being subtle when it comes to writing lyrics on the subject of sex! On this track he talks about what he gets upto between the sheets and how he will do stuff another man wouldn't such as feet licking! Bashy stated on Twitter that he has a bit of a thing about ladies feet, the kinky bastard!

The video sees Bashy oggling a very sexy lapdancer in a club before taking her back to his pad and getting it on with her. Watch the video below.

The video for the song is almost as filthy as Tulisa's! When Bashy posted it up on Twitter it certainly got a lot of the ladies hot under the collar! This track will provide the soundtrack for a lot of babymaking during 2012 I'm sure!

Majestic MC Releases Long Awaited Video For "Let's Go Back"

Majestic MC has finally released the hotly anticipated video for his track "Let's Go Back". The track is a tribute to UK Garage's heyday in the late 90's and early 00's. The track really captures what those days were all about and is a seriously nostalgic trip down memory lane! The track references the days of shirts & shoes, cigarette smoking, Champagne drinking, Nokia 5110s, Vinyl records, tape packs, shouting "boo", DJ EZ, Heartless Crew, Charlie Brown, So Solid, Pay As U Go and when record shops "used to earn dough". Like Majestic I was too young at the time to really have enjoyed these classic days to the full as I was too young to go the raves except for the ones for under 18's! On the track Majestic laments on how he missed out on so many things like “Liberty Larner mixing Diamond Rings” and talks of his regrets that he “never got to see Tuff Jam mix or Charlie Brown spit”.

In keeping with the theme of the song the video is set "Somewhere in London 1999/2000". The attention to detail on the video is fantastic, from the fashion including the guys wearing FCUK t-shirts and the girls wearing crop tops, to Majestic's terrible "gelled down fringe" (a style that I am embarrassed to admit I also sported at the time!). Many legendary figures from the garage scene also feature in the video such as MC B-Live, MC Creed, Martin Larner and MC Neat.

The video is shot as to look like an old recording on a VCR video tape. There is a bit in the video where the music stops and a clip from Byker Grove pops up! This was done to simulate how old random bits of pre recorded TV used to pop up all over the place when a blank VCR had been recorded over too many times! A genius idea from the video’s director- Naked Jake.

And as a lesson for those who are too young to remember, here are some old tunes from that era!

DnD- Diamond Rings
Dem2- Destiny
Amira- My Desire (Dreem Teem Remix)
Sticky feat. Ms Dynamite- Boooo!
Masterstepz - Melody
So Solid Crew- Oh No (Sentimental Things)
Pay As U Go Cartel- Champagne Dance
Zed Bias- Neighbourhood
Kele Le Roc - My Love (10 Degrees Below Remix)

In Fact just buy all the Pure Garage CD's from DJ EZ! Big up to the Old Skool!

Ex Footballer Leon Mckenzie teams up with Lady Leshurr and MC Harvey for Debut Single

Former Norwich City and Peterborough United Striker Leon Mckenzie has embarked on a surprise career change following his retirement from football last December. After a career which spanned 16 years and yielded 105 league goals for clubs including Crystal Palace, Coventry City and Charlton Athletic, Leon has decided to launch a solo music career. The result is debut single "Finally" which is released on 19 March.

Leon has bucked the trend of footballers releasing terrible records (I’m talking about the likes of Andy Cole, Gazza and Ian Wright) by producing a very credible and slick RnB track. "Finally" features Brummie MC Lady Leshurr who is creating a huge buzz on the scene right now.  Lesh's verse is a sweet, lovely-dovey lyric mixed with singing which really underlines how versatile she is as an artist. She can do straight up grime bangers like "Good God" and "6ft7ft" and she is equally comfortable on a Pop/RnB track like this. Lady Leshurr continues to build on her sky high reputation and is destined for huge success. Former So Solid man Harvey has also taken time out from "romancing" Cheryl Cole to feature on the track.

I really rate this track and I'll certainly be downloading it. I wish Leon success with his music career as I liked him as a player and I know he has had a tough few years. He is currently doing 6 months bird in relation to speeding offences so he could do with cheering up!

Check the video out HERE.

And if you fancy a laugh check out the links to Andy Cole, Gazza and Ian Wright!

Lioness Releases Mixtape

Female Grime MC Lioness has released a new mixtape called "RoarNess" which is free to download here. Having heard her track "Set The Girl"" with Ghetts at the end of last year I decided to check out her mixtape and I am seriously impresssed. This girl can do everything from straight up aggressive grime bangers to smooth RnB laced tracks about relationship isses. I think Lioness has a very big future a head of her and would definately recommend this mixtape.

By the way it is wwwaaaay better than Tinie Tempah's dissapointing "Happy Birthday" EP which was also released as a free download at the end of the year.

Lioness is part of the collective called "Female Allstars" alongside other leading female MC's including Mz. Bratt, Baby Blue and Lady Leshurr. Many of these girls appear on this mixtape. Their live performance of new track "Rock The Mic"" at BBC 1xtra Live is currently up on youtube.

There are so many talented ladies on the Grime scene at the moment and I have to admit that they are putting the guys to shame. BIG UP LIONESS! See her video with Ghetts:
